Advent 1: Stars to navigate by in the New Year
To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours. I Corinthians 1:2 NKJV

The Sermons from St. Johns Abbey
The sermons posted on this page, unless otherwise noted, are written versions of sermons preached at St. Johns Abbey in our Sunday Eucharistic services. We usually preach from one or more of the Scripture readings appointed for the day in the Revised Common Lectionary. Preaching through the Lectionary enables us to systematically cover a great deal of the apostolic content of the gospel every year.
Postings & archives
We try to post the previous Sunday’s sermon early the following week. The next week, the former sermon will go into our archives. Eventually, we hope to archive all of the hundreds of sermons we have preached over the years.
A little history
We originally produced hard copy print sermons to serve pastor friends in Developing Nations. We delivered those sermons by mail. Over time, however, the requests for printed sermons outstripped our means to mail them. So we are now grateful that the Internet enables us to share freely with our brethren around the world.
Preaching with conviction
Because inerrancy is the exclusive property of the Holy Bible, and because all preachers are limited by their imperfections, we don’t claim our sermons are inerrant. But we do preach and write with conviction, and attempt to base what we communicate on the Word of God.
God bless you as you read
We pray our sermons prove edifying and helpful to each and all who read them.
Note on Reproduction Rights
We encourage our readers to share our sermons both over the Internet and in hard copy. The sermons are copyrighted, however, and we don’t wish them to be reproduced for sale without our written permission.
