Education

We are made for relationship, stewardship, and worship...

Education historically addressed each of these spheres, but today children are coming out of school with no knowledge of any of these. Educational factories promote self-absorption over community, intelligence over wisdom, and relativism over truth. How can I call myself educated if I don't know how to relate to my neighbor? How my country works? How business works? What my rights and responsibilities are? What is good and true and worthy of worship?

The Church loses 80% of its young people to the world after a secular college education. (9-11-2006, The Barna Group)

Why? In part because they fall sway to evolutionary theory taught as fact, despite the overwhelming physical evidence to the contrary. And who can blame them? If they have never been presented with science that supports biblical history, why not doubt the rest of the Bible?

My thirteen year-old nephew recently watched Dino-Mania: The Truth About The Dinosaurs, The Bible and The Fossil Record! by Creation Worldview Ministries. He sat transfixed throughout, demanding "why did I never know this stuff before?" He soaked up every morsel that gloried in God as Creator and rushed home to show the DVD to his family and friends.

Forstmann's Not So Little Idea

In honor of Ted Forstmann's recent passing, an article about the radical and generous approach he took to address failing inner city schools:

"What is the single most frustrating issue in American politics? The deficit? Nah. Entitlement reform? A cakewalk. The Republican Party's republican nominee? A day in the park. It's this: Reforming the nation's failing inner-city schools."
